I don't know anything about you.
Why should I do your course?
We are one of Europe's longest established providers of Trinity
TESOL certification. As a family run business, we have many
years experience training TEFL teachers and our 3 TEFL training
staff members have more than 80 years experience between them!
With that type of background you can be sure to get the most
effective tutoring and advice during your course. In over
20 years of doing TEFL training courses we have an almost
100% success rate.

What happens if I have trouble
doing the course modules by myself?
All trainees may contact course tutors at any time to seek
advice about the course. A forum for all trainees is also
available on the internet where you can post questions and
generally discuss areas of the course and topics that are
covered in the modules. If you really need to discuss something
face to face with a tutor, all trainees are welcome to come
to our school in Edinburgh and spend some time going over
things with a member of staff. In short, we will make every
effort to get you through the course and assist you if you
experience difficulties.
The Diploma in TESOL is generally regarded as degree equivalent.
Trainees will be required to achieve a high level of understanding
of the topics raised in the modules and be prepared to answer
questions on a range of TEFL related issues and classroom
techniques. If, however, you devote yourself to the course
and do all the coursework you should be able to achieve this
easily as the diploma covers all the areas on which you will
be examined. A genuine interest in TEFL / TESOL / TESL is
the key to geting through the course and if you already have
an English Teaching certificate the course will be, more or
less, an extension of many areas that you have come across
or heard about in your career so far.
How many books will I have
to buy in order to complete the course?
Although there is a recommended reading list, there are no
set texts for the Diploma. The content of the modules covers
everything you will need to know but obviously you should
try to read as much as possible about the industry and try
to get hold of at least some of the recommended books in the
course bibliography.
The course is usually completed within 2 years of starting
the modules. The actual time you take to finish the course
will very much depend on your individual circumstances. Many
trainees try to do it as quickly as possible but only you
can decide how much time to devote each week. The minimum
time frame for taking your final exams is 6 months although
in reality this is rarely achieved due to work commitments.
The majority of TEFL (TESOL) Diploma trainees are existing
EFL teachers who want to upgrade their qualification. Both
native and non-native speakers of English can do the course
so many trainees are English Language teachers overseas. Some
trainees are quite newly qualified teachers with one or two
years experience while others have many years experience behind
them but just lack that vital diploma qualification.
While doing the course your work is monitored and marked by
the tutors here at TLI Ltd. As well as a series of compulsory
assignments you will be asked to complete soem practise tests
and essay questions which you will send to be looked over
by TLI staff.
All work carried out during the exam component here in Edinburgh
will be marked by the Trinity College London examiner who
will also occassionally check over some of your coursework
to see that it has been marked fairly and within Trinity College
London's guidelines.
It is possible to fail the TESOL Diploma course due to not
meeting the required standard for the exam component and /
or the observed Teaching Practise and Candidate Interview.
All trainess will, however, be able to resit this component
without having to resubmit coursework or retake the modules.
The Trinity College London LTCL Diploma is internationally
recognised by FE Colleges and Universities and is accredited
in England by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority
at Level 7 of the UK National Qualifications Framework as
are master’s degrees in related subject areas.
Course modules are sent at regular intervals but they will
generally be sent to you upon completion of mandatory assignments
contained in your previous set. You may request that larger
sets are sent when you have some time off work, for example,
so that you are able to complete modules more quickly.
Why is this TEFL course
called the "Diploma in TESOL" and not the "TEFL
Diploma"?
Trinity College London uses the acronym "TESOL"
so that all their Teaching English qualifications contain
the term. TESOL, TESL and TEFL, however, all essentially refer
to the same thing though "TEFL" is becoming more
poular than the others to describe the industry as a whole.
The Trinity LTCL Diploma and the Cambridge DELTA are generally
accepted as being the two internationally recognised "TEFL
Diplomas".
Isn't my TEFL certificate
enough to get me a good job?
If you have an existing TEFL certificate you may be asking
yourself whether it is worth doing a diploma course. You can
indeed find many teaching jobs with the certificate but the
diploma can open up lots of doors and give you the right qualification
to get a better, more respected position within the EFL teaching
industry. Your certificate will limit your jobs to private
Language Schools but the diploma allows you to work in Colleges
and Universities all over the world. Also, having the diploma
will make you an ideal candidate for management positions
in schools around the world.
